Who is Solarwinkel
Solarwinkel as a business is a place built with the conviction that sustainable energy begins with quality. They gather every part of a solar installation: panels, inverters, batteries, mounts, tools, into a coherent whole, so that what ends up on their clients roof is not a puzzle of mismatched pieces, but a system that works, lasts, and pays back.
No matter the target group – a seasoned installer, a homeowner taking the first step toward independence, or simply someone who refuses to accept waste – the structure is made clear: the right component in the right place, the rules followed, the power flowing.
But behind the catalog is also a promise. Solarwinkel does not just sell equipment; they carry the weight of expertise of regulations, inspections, shifting tax codes. So that clients’ ambition does not collapse under bureaucracy.
Baldwin x Solarwinkel: a successful collaboration
When they came to us, their goal was clear: to develop a webshop that’s fast, flexible, and ready for growth. And that’s what we delivered.
We set up a new store on Magento 2, using the Baldwin optimised Hyvä theme. So we basically combined Magento’s flexibility with Hyvä’s speed. And this allowed us to move quickly (in less than 2 months) without cutting corners.
Cool features we integrated into the shop
Besides the standard features, we implemented a few things that were specific to Solarwinkel’s business:
Fixed product tax attribute
…or managing environmental charges (Bebat, Recupel & PV-Cycle)
In Belgium, certain products come with mandatory environmental charges. For Solarwinkel this means:
- Bebat for batteries
- Recupel for electronic devices
- PV-Cycle for solar panels
These charges need to be shown to customers, included in invoices, and synced correctly to the ERP.
We added three new attributes in Magento for Bebat, Recupel, and PV-Cycle. These attributes are passed through the integration layer to Business Central. From there, the ERP automatically adds the correct environmental charge lines to orders.
This setup ensures:
- Charges are visible to customers in the webshop and on invoices.
- Business Central handles the financial side without extra manual work.
- Solarwinkel stays compliant with Belgian legal requirements.
Product Attachments (PDFs)
For many products, especially in the solar / technical / industrial world, specs, datasheets, installation guides, certificates, wiring diagrams, and more are all part of the package. You don’t want customers hunting through email or asking for documents. You want them right there on the product page.
That’s exactly why we made it possible. We implemented a feature that:
- Enables attaching PDF files (or links) to products.
- Displays them on the Product Detail Page (PDP) where the customer can download or view.
- Works with our front-end so it fits naturally into the layout.
Think of it as adding an “attachments tab / section” to each product, but more flexible.
Attaching PDFs to products makes life easier for customers: they can access manuals, specs, and certificates right on the product page without extra back-and-forth. It builds trust by showing you’re transparent and professional, helps conversion by giving buyers the details they need before purchasing, and adds flexibility since you can link any type of file or URL.
ERP Integration
Our goal was to implement an automated synchronization between Business Central and Magento. This was made possible through the Nvision connector, which enabled seamless transfer of clients, orders, products, prices, stocks, correct environmental charges, and additional specific settings.
Design & webshop tracking
The webshop is designed with intention: clean lines, a simple structure, and a clear focus on the products themselves. No clutter, no distractions. Just a straightforward path from browsing to buying. Behind the scenes, full e-commerce tracking is in place, giving precise insight into customer journeys, sales performance, and opportunities to optimize every click.
